Canada will pass the baton to goaltender Roberto Luongo for their fourth game of the Olympic hockey tournament after Martin Brodeur struggled in a shock loss to the Americans on Sunday.
Luongo will get the nod for Tuesday's game against Germany to see which team advances to the quarter-finals to play top seeded Russia.
Asked how he was going to play in the qualification round against Germany, Luongo said Monday he is looking forward to showing what he can do.
"I think about winning and playing my best game and then we move on," said Luongo. "I don't think it is good to think too much ahead or what could be."
Luongo shut out Norway in his first game before the NHL's all-time career victories and shutout leader Brodeur took over for the next two games.
Luongo said he found out last night he was going to play and despite some "nervous engergy" he says he is up for the challenge.
"It will be exciting." he said. "Now I just have to focus on one thing and that is playing a good game."
Luongo is a crowd favourite in Vancouver and plays for the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks. Despite having a home in the city, Luongo has been staying in the Olympic athletes village with the rest of his teammates.
